Lagos State Government Closes Lateef Jakande Road for 12days

The Lagos State Government says Lateef Jakande Road by WEMPCO Road junction is to be closed to traffic from the night of Friday, March 28 to Wednesday, April 9, 2014. The government explained that the closure was to enable the contractor constructing the underground drainage project in the area to cross the road from WEMPCO Road into Omole Gorge where the drainage would discharge. A statement by the External Relations Specialist, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Kolawole Ojelabi, further explained that the drainage, when completed, would collect flood water and other waste water coming from Agege, Ogba and environs and prevent flooding usually experienced in the areas. LAGOS WARNS RESIDENT AGAINST BUYING AYOBO LAND

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Lands Bureau, Mr. Hakeem Muri–Okunola, has urged residents to be wary of the act of individuals, families, traditional rulers and communities, who engage in widespread indiscriminate and illegal sale of the state government’s acquired land at Ayobo in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state.  In a statement on Sunday, Muri-Okunola said all parcels of land at Ayobo containing an area of 455.76 hectares were acquired by the state government by virtue of the Lagos State Official Gazette No. 15 Volume 34 of May 5, 2001, and that the land was earmarked and named the Ayobo Residential Scheme. He said residents should always take formal approach to verify the status of any landed property before consummating transactions in the said area. According to him, residents can avoid buying such property by obtaining Land Information Certificate from the office of the Surveyor-General and ascertain the status of the land before purchasing. LASG to close Dopemu, Iyana Ipaja bridges

The Lagos State Government says Dopemu and Iyana Ipaja bridges along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway will be closed to public use for 10 days each. The government explained that while Dopemu Bridge would be closed from Saturday March 15 to Monday March 24, 2014, Iyana Ipaja Bridge would be shut between Tuesday March 25 and Saturday April 5, 2014. The spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation, Sina Thorpe, on Tuesday in Alausa, Ikeja, explained that the closure was to allow for the maintenance of the bridges, which would commence on Saturday March 15, and end on April 5, 2014. He said, “The contractor would commence work at the Dopemu Bridge for the first 10 days — Saturday March 15 to Monday March 24, 2014 — and thereafter move to the Iyana Ipaja Bridge from Tuesday March 25 to Saturday April 5, 2014.” Thorpe, an Assistant Director, said the government had put strategies in place to prevent traffic problem in the areas during the period of the

The Managing Director, Tafawa Balewa Square Management Board, Mrs. Aisha Bakari, said the rehabilitation of the Independence arcade was being executed through a public-private partnership in line with the Infrastructural Concession and Regulatory Commission’s guideline. Second Niger Bridge Commencement Ceremony To Hold March 10

Niger-bridge The Nigerian government will on March 10 perform the ground breaking ceremony for the second Niger Bridge.   President Jonathan told a delegation of Anambra State citizens, who were in the presidential villa on a courtesy visit on Tuesday that the work on the bridge would begin immediately after the ceremony in  fulfillment  of his campaign promise before he became the president in 2011. The Anambra citizens came in the company of the outgoing governor, Peter Obi, whose tenure will expire on the March 17. They thanked the Federal Government for the planned flag-off of the second Niger Bridge project, pledging their support for the government to ensure that the bridge is completed within the stipulated time.
