LAGOS WARNS RESIDENT AGAINST BUYING AYOBO LAND

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Lands Bureau, Mr. Hakeem Muri–Okunola, has urged residents to be wary of the act of individuals, families, traditional rulers and communities, who engage in widespread indiscriminate and illegal sale of the state government’s acquired land at Ayobo in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state.

He said residents should always take formal approach to verify the status of any landed property before consummating transactions in the said area.

According to him, residents can avoid buying such property by obtaining Land Information Certificate from the office of the Surveyor-General and ascertain the status of the land before purchasing.

He added that proper validation of the titles from the state’s land registry should also be done before individuals made attempt to purchase any landed property in the area and other parts of the state.

“The unsuspecting members of the public are, therefore, enjoined to take necessary caution by way of verifying the status of any landed property, else they may purchase litigation, which venture may end up as colossal waste of hard earned financial resources,” he said.

Muri-Okunola said the government’s attention had been drawn to the increasing illegal activities of fraudsters who deceived unsuspecting members of the public based on unconfirmed claim that they were the owners of the land.
