OPIC Commences Redevelopment Of Agbara Estate

In a bid to boost the government’s urban renewal programme, the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation says it has commenced the redevelopment of the OPIC Agbara Estate through the construction of new houses.

The redevelopment, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor/Managing Director, OPIC, Mr. Babajide Odusolu, will entail the creation of new gated residential zones and the provision of modern infrastructure in the entire estate.

He said the estate was due for redevelopment as one of the foremost industrial layouts in the country, covering a landmass in excess of 6,000 hectares and serving as a commercial and industrial node linking Ogun and Lagos states.

Outlining the corporation’s plans, Odusolu said on completion of the first phase of the redevelopment of the Agbara estate, OPIC intended to deliver a minimum of two new residential clusters consisting 60 units of two-bedroom terrace bungalows and 20 units of three-bedroom semi-detached duplexes in addition to a new residential zone that would provide over 150 serviced plots.
He said basic utilities would be provided at the site of the new developments.

“The urban revitalisation project commenced this January with the road construction works and will run for the next 24 months,” he said.

Odusolu noted that OPIC’s mandate as given by Governor Ibikunle Amosun was to ensure that Agbara, which already serves as an industrial hub with its nearness to the nation’s border with Benin Republic and existing water bodies and gas pipelines, became the preferred destination for industries within a very short period.

He urged those who had abandoned their properties to revalidate their allocations as all undeveloped plots would be repossessed under the urban renewal programme.
