Dubai Sustainable City
Dubai based property developer, Diamond Developers, has launched Dh1 billion “Dubai Sustainable City” with construction set to commence by year-end.

The city will be the first residential community of its kind in Dubai and is expected to meet the highest environmental standards by adopting a sustainable approach in its quest to become a regional leader in eco-tourism and global environmental protection.

Coming with a residential area of 500 townhouses and courtyard villas inspired by the urban form and heritage of Dubai’s old ‘Bastakyia’ district consisting of several urban themes at three and four bedroom options, the city proposes Sustainable Engineering and Research Institute and Training Centre for sustainable practices, and a nature inspired ‘Green School’ from Kindergarden to Grade 6 as well as eco-resort of 143 bungalows and individual units, deluxe sustainable hotel and resort with a world class natural spa centre.

It also plans to have tourist attractions such as a Planetarium and a grass Amphitheatre for hosting events, natural ‘biodome’ greenhouses, organic farm and individual garden farms for local food production, variety of sport and leisure facilities such as Community Centre and the Equestrian Club, biking and shaded jogging trails across the city.  A total area of 5,000,000 Sq ft (46 hectares), with 2,700 residents and a daily population of 6,000

The City’s objective is to become an international model of sustainable living, work education and entertainment. It aims to provide all the amenities and luxuries of modern life with no sacrifice to the environment. This city redefines sustainable living by providing an unprecedented experience in terms of no service or maintenance fees, energy efficient housing, “green” education and health care, eco-attractions and a full range of indoor and outdoor active and passive recreation opportunities.

Eco-friendly and sustainable resort and spa, an educational zone, a green belt that will have 20,000 trees, a 5,000 square feet long water canal and a tourist minaret that allows tourists and residents to view the city at an altitude of 100 meters will also be part of the sustainable city.
